Intralogistics
In a very small space with a tested reliability of 99.97% and the possibility of chaotic stock keeping at a speed of 30 m/min, it is scarcely surprising that Montrac is one of the most popular and efficient logistics workers.

«With our own system, we have been able to optimize time and capacity. And we also have the opportunity to test new technologies and developments directly on a working Montrac system.» Daniel Pauli, COO Montech AG

| Montech optimizes its own intralogistics
To optimize intralogistics in its Derendingen headquarters, Montech has implemented a solution based on its intelligent transport system Montrac. This intralogistic system has been implemented to transfer the single components of each order from the warehouse directly to the assembly areas. In the past, these handling tasks were carried out by Montech’s warehouse staff using a hand trolley.
Now, warehouse and assembly department are connected by a Montrac system. Inside the warehouse, the requested parts for an assembly order are picked and laid onto a shuttle “called” via a touch panel. The shuttle positions itself on a sort of lift. Through a touch panel, the operator inputs the destination address for the shuttle, which starts off towards the assembly department. The lift moves up to the upper level at 5 meters altitude, just below the hall roof, and then reaches the assembly department at the opposite end of the building. Once there, the shuttle is taken down by the lift and placed in waiting position, where the assembly staff can pick the parts to be assembled. At this point, the shuttle is taken back up to the overhead track, waiting to be “called” again by an operator.
When an assembly order has been executed, an empty shuttle is requested through the touch panel to be loaded and sent back to the warehouse. The lift moves up to the monorail under the roof and the shuttle travels backwards to the warehouse, where it is unloaded and the assembled units are picked and stored.

“With Montech’s technology, we could customize the transport system according to our production needs, eliminating dust, reducing consumption and optimizing the entire production cycle.” Vincenzo Lioy, Managing Director, Triom

| Antistatic and low power consumption
The Montrac system implemented by Triom transports vehicle light components from the warehouse to different processing stations. Three tracks, some with bypasses, provide for the fast transfer of parts. In the warehouse, different components are laid onto the Shuttles of the Montrac system. Each Shuttle is identified by a unique ID number which allows to define the processing stages downstream and the route that each Shuttle will follow through the plant.
A key factor for the selection of the Montrac system were its excellent antistatic properties which, besides reducing wear dramatically, protect the parts from dust. In this way, Triom could eliminate the use of dust-repelling guns.
For Triom, it was also important to avoid any risk in case the operators should touch the monorail or the Shuttles: Montrac is totally safe in this respect, as it operates at low voltage. Another ace in the hole of Montrac is its low power consumption, as much as 20 times less than equivalent systems.
